Pakistan Prohibits Foreign Medical Graduates From Working In Pakistan

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]Recent communication from federal health authorities to the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) indicates a potential restriction on the practice of medical graduates trained abroad if their alma maters are not recognized by the accreditation agencies of host countries within a specified timeframe.

According to Federal Health Secretary Iftikhar Shallwani, many Pakistani students studying medicine abroad lack recognition from host country accreditation bodies. A deadline is being established for these institutions to attain accreditation. After this deadline, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) will not acknowledge their degrees.

Secretary Shallwani conveyed these concerns to WFME President Ricardo León-Bórquez, who pledged full support to the PMDC regarding this issue.

Numerous Pakistani students pursue medical education globally, including in Central Asian states. However, they often encounter difficulties practicing medicine in Pakistan due to a lack of accreditation from their institutions’ respective countries.

This highlights the challenges within the global medical education system, emphasizing the need for collaborative efforts and proactive measures to maintain standards and ensure quality healthcare delivery worldwide.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
