Is Lahore Qalandars Eligible For PSL 9 Playoffs?

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]

Lahore Qalandars, the two-time reigning champions in the Pakistan Super League, Season 9, are facing a challenging start to their campaign. With five consecutive losses, they find themselves at the bottom of the table with zero points.

Despite impressive individual performances from their batters Rassie van der Dussen and Sahibzada Farhan, the team has struggled to translate these into match-winning innings. Rassie boasts an average of 90.33 with a strike rate of 160.35, while Farhan holds an average of 52 with a strike rate of 144.44. In a typical scenario, such performances would secure a team’s top position, but unfortunately, this is not the case for Lahore Qalandars.

Currently, Qalandars have a net run rate of -0.5333, and with only five matches remaining, another disadvantage is that the Lahore leg of fixtures is concluding, with LQ set to play matches in Karachi and Rawalpindi in the second leg.

In an ideal scenario, if Lahore Qalandars manage to win the remaining five matches, they would accumulate 10 points – a feat yet to be accomplished by any team as of February 25, 2024. Teams occupying the 3rd and 4th positions on the table each have 4 points, with similar net run rates compared to Lahore.

While Lahore Qalandars are not entirely out of the ‘Playoff’ race, any further setbacks could significantly impact their journey in PSL 9. The team needs a flawless performance in the upcoming matches to revive their chances and compete strongly in the quest for a playoff spot.
