Despite holding discussions with Cricket Australia to find an appropriate message, the International Cricket Committee (ICC) has disapproved of his latest humanitarian gesture, according to reports from The Australian and Melbourne Age newspapers.
Khawaja, a Muslim, had previously been prohibited from wearing politically charged shoes in the first Test, where he wanted to express solidarity with the people of Gaza. The ICC cited regulations against messages related to politics, religion, or race. Despite receiving a reprimand for wearing a black armband during the match, Khawaja contested the ruling, maintaining it was for personal bereavement.
