Following Pakistan’s dismissal for 271 in response to Australia’s 487 in the first innings, the hosts, led by skipper Pat Cummins, declared their second innings at 233-5 on the fourth day. This decision came after opener Usman Khawaja’s resilient 90 and a strong partnership with Mitchell Marsh.

The day began with Australia at 84-2, with Khawaja at 34 and Steve Smith at 43. Pakistan’s pace bowlers posed challenges early on, creating difficulties for the batsmen. Debutant Khurram Shahzad played a pivotal role, claiming a crucial wicket by dismissing Smith lbw for 45.
Travis Head’s aggressive batting was cut short as a misjudged drive led to his dismissal for 14. Despite a close call where Shan Masood dropped a chance at mid-off, Marsh survived.
Khawaja persevered to achieve his 25th Test half-century off 151 balls, accelerating his pace thereafter. Marsh, securing his second 50 of the match, displayed attacking intent.
Khawaja’s innings concluded at 90 with an ambitious shot, resulting in his dismissal by Shaheen Shah Afridi, leading to Australia’s declaration. Pakistan’s chase began poorly, losing early wickets and ultimately getting bowled out for a mere 89 runs.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
