Hafeez personally reached out to Amir to discuss his retirement decision, suggesting that making a comeback through domestic cricket could be a viable path to rejoining the Pakistan national team. Hafeez conveyed, “I personally called Mohammad Amir and advised him to reconsider his retirement, emphasizing that participating in domestic cricket could pave the way for his return to the national team.”

Furthermore, Hafeez mentioned, “I assured him that if he performs well in domestic cricket, he would be considered for selection in the Pakistan team, where he would receive fair opportunities like any other player. However, Amir expressed that he has moved on in his life, and his priorities have changed, a decision we must respect.”

Hafeez also shared that he personally contacted Imad Wasim, encouraging him to consider signing a central contract. Despite contemplating the proposal, Wasim later informed Hafeez of his unavailability for the New Zealand series and formally announced his retirement just two days later.
Hafeez explained, “I personally called Imad Wasim and communicated that he was part of my plans for the Pakistan team, urging him to contribute to Pakistan cricket. He took some time to think about it and promised to get back to me.”
He continued, “After two days, he messaged me, stating his unavailability for the New Zealand series. Surprisingly, two days later, Imad Wasim officially announced his retirement.”
Imad Wasim’s retirement was unexpected, considering his excellent physical condition and commendable performance in Pakistan’s recent T20I series against New Zealand. As one of Pakistan’s premier all-rounders in limited-overs cricket, Wasim had previously held the prestigious title of the No. 1 T20I bowler globally. His memorable batting display in the 2019 World Cup against Afghanistan played a pivotal role in Pakistan’s victory.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
