UN Approves Pakistan's Resolutions On Disarmament

The UN General Assembly’s key committee has endorsed Pakistan’s four annual resolutions related to disarmament. These resolutions aim to enhance both regional and global peace and security.

Three of these resolutions were approved by the 193-nation Assembly’s First Committee (Disarmament and International Security) on Thursday and received broad support from member states.

These resolutions address regional disarmament, conventional arms control at regional and sub-regional levels, and Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) in the regional and sub-regional context.

The resolutions titled “Regional disarmament” and “Confidence-building measures in the regional and sub-regional context” were approved unanimously.

The text titled “Conventional arms control at the regional and sub-regional levels” received 182 favorable votes, with India being the sole dissenting country.
