[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]In a tragic incident, a young man lost his life and two others were injured due to a dispute arising from charges related to an easypaisa transaction. The dispute reportedly occurred between a shopkeeper and a customer in Rawalpindi over alleged extra charges on an easypaisa transaction. The argument escalated, leading to the shopkeeper shooting at the individuals. One person died, and two of his relatives were injured.

Reports suggest that easypaisa customers have been experiencing arbitrary charges imposed by retailers and sales agents during transactions. The lack of fixed rates has resulted in disagreements between agents and customers. Some victims have reported being asked for excessive amounts for simple transactions.

According to an anonymous retailer, easypaisa previously provided reasonable margins to retailers and franchise holders. However, these margins were recently eliminated, leading many retailers to impose arbitrary charges. These charges tend to increase with larger transaction amounts.

Customers have also reported arbitrary fees for depositing money into their easypaisa accounts. Additionally, easypaisa has introduced a monthly SMS charge of Rs. 15, which customers are required to pay to receive transaction codes.

Easypaisa responded by stating that they value their channel partners and work to maintain their profitability. They mentioned revising commissions to align with industry standards, increasing commissions for other products, and prioritizing transparency and customer convenience. They defended the Rs. 15 monthly SMS charge, stating that it is lower than fees charged by other commercial banks and is clearly outlined in their Schedule of Charges.

JazzCash, a competitor, stated that they have not reduced any commissions in response to the situation.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
