[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]The population of Pakistan has reached 241.49 million, experiencing a growth rate of 2.55%, as reported by the recently approved digital census conducted by the Council of Common Interests (CCI). The census results were endorsed during a CCI meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and attended by the chief ministers of all provinces. According to the breakdown provided by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), Punjab holds the largest population with 127.68 million, followed by Sindh with 55.69 million inhabitants.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has a population of 40.85 million, while Balochistan stands at 14.89 million. The latest census data also indicates that Islamabad’s population is 2.36 million.
Comparing with previous census records, the population was 132.35 million in 1998 and 207.68 million in 2017. The growth rate declined from 2.69% in 1998 to 2.40% in 2017 but has increased again to 2.55% as per the recent census.

The data highlights that 61.18% of Pakistan’s population resides in rural areas, while the urban population constitutes 38.82%. In KP, a significant 84.99% of the people live in rural areas, while Balochistan’s rural population accounts for 69.04% of the total population. Punjab has 59.30% of its inhabitants residing in rural areas, while the ratio is 46.27% in Sindh. Additionally, 53.10% of Islamabad’s population lives in rural areas.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
