Saudi Govt reveals Kaaba’s annual cleaning date

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]Saudi Arabia has announced the date for the annual Holy Kaaba cleaning ceremony, a time-honored tradition in which the Kaaba’s floor is carefully cleaned.

The celebration will take place on the 15th of Muharram (2nd of August) and will involve the use of Zam Zam water, rose water, and scent.

According to Arab news outlets, the cleaning would take place after the Fajr prayer. The event will be led by Makkah Governor Prince Khalid al-Faisal, who will cleanse the Kaaba’s interior walls with a mixture of Zam Zam water, rose water, and musk, as well as the floor.

After cleaning the inside side of the Holy Kaaba, it will be dried with palm leaves and the walls will be washed with a white towel.

Ghusl Kaaba is a meaningful practise that dates back to the period of Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings Be Upon Him). It is reported that the Prophet himself used to execute this ceremonial cleansing of the Kaaba twice a year, once in Muharram and once in Sha’ban, immediately before Ramadan.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
