Saud Shakeel, who came out to bat with Pakistan struggling at 101/5 on Day 2 of the ongoing first Test, impressed with his calm demeanour and helped his team recover with a record-breaking double century.

He has so far scored 200 runs from 350 deliveries, with 18 boundaries.

With his double century, the left-handed batter surpassed Mohammad Hafeez, who made 196 in Colombo, as the Pakistani batter with the highest Test score in Sri Lanka.
During his spectacular knock, he shared a marathon 177-run partnership with Salman Ali Agha, who also played an important role in his team’s recovery.
The right-handed batter’s smart knock came to an end when he fell just 17 runs short of his second Test century. His 83 from 113 balls included nine boundaries and a six.
Meanwhile, Saud Shakeel remained in the spotlight thanks to his courageous knock and crucial partnerships with Noman Ali and Naseem Shah.
