Pakistan and China Forge Stronger Ties in CPEC: ML-1 Project to Accelerate

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]Pakistan and China have agreed to expedite the implementation of the ML-1 project in accordance with the consensus of their leadership. A meeting was held between Ahsan Iqbal, the Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives of Pakistan, and Zheng Shanjie, the Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) of China in Beijing.

During the meeting, Minister Iqbal highlighted the significant progress made in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) since its launch a decade ago. He emphasized the successful collaboration between the two countries in implementing key energy and infrastructure projects, which has laid a strong foundation for the next phase of CPEC.

Chairman Zheng acknowledged the strong friendship and partnership between China and Pakistan, expressing their unwavering support for each other despite global political challenges.

Both sides agreed to accelerate the implementation of the ML-1 project in line with the leadership consensus and commence it as soon as possible. Zheng, in response to a proposal by Minister Iqbal, offered to share Chinese expertise and knowledge to enhance Pakistan’s export earnings and expedite the development of Special Economic Zones (SEZs).

Furthermore, it was decided that regular meetings of the Joint Working Groups (JWGs) would be held to review the progress of cooperation under the CPEC framework. The focus of the next phase of CPEC will be on industrialization, agriculture, science & technology, and socio-economic development, reflecting a broader scope of collaboration between the two countries.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
