NDMA announces art competition across the country to promote Disaster Risk Reduction

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]The National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) has offered a fantastic opportunity for students over the age of 18. The NDMA has organised a statewide art competition comprising painting, photography, and short film as part of the Pakistan Expo on Disaster Risk Reduction (PEDRR-23). 

This event aims to inspire and promote catastrophe risk reduction in Pakistan by utilising the youth’s artistic abilities. Participants will have the opportunity to win cash prizes as well as be recognised for their excellent achievements. The deadline for submissions is July 8, 2023.

Painting Competition

The painting competition gives young painters of all genders a platform. Participants can help Pakistan’s “Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR)” field by expressing their creativity via art. The following cash prizes will be awarded to the winners of this competition:

  • First Place: Rs. 100,000
  • Second Place: Rs. 75,000
  • Third Place: Rs. 50,000

Submission Process

The artwork might be made in oil, watercolour, on canvas, or digitally. The artwork should be in A3 format. Participants can create artwork in one of the following topic areas:

  • Pakistan’s Resilience in Natural Disasters & Climate Change Impact
  • Human Induced Disasters (deforestation, forest fire, pollution, etc.)
  • DRR and Technology
  • Better Preparedness Through Innovation

Short Film Competition

This competition provides an opportunity for young filmmakers to demonstrate their talent and innovation. The top achievers will get the following cash prizes:

  • First Place: Rs. 100,000
  • Second Place: Rs. 75,000
  • Third Place: Rs. 50,000

Submission Process

Filmmakers must develop a 30-45 second short film focusing on one of the above stated theme categories.

Photography Competition

The NDMA also allows photographers to capture the beauty and resilience of people and environment in the face of disasters. The following cash prizes will be awarded to top photographers:

  • First Place: Rs. 100,000
  • Second Place: Rs. 75,000
  • Third Place: Rs. 50,000

Submission Process

Participants should submit images in A4 format that cover one of the theme categories listed above.

Terms and Condition

All submitted content must be original, and plagiarism will result in disqualification. NDMA shall have exclusive copyright ownership of the submitted content. Participants must be at least 18 years old and currently enrolled in an educational institution.
