Jeddah to Makkah in 5 mins with high speed train

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]A trip from Jeddah to Makkah takes up to 50 minutes on the highway and covers a distance of more than 80 kilometres.

If you are one of the few fortunate Muslims who have had the opportunity to perform the Hajj or Umrah and have arrived in the Saudi capital city of Jeddah, you have most likely booked bus or train tickets to the holy cities, but the 80-kilometer journey can be lengthy, taking up to 50 minutes by road.

Determined to reduce travel time and provide better options for travellers, the Saudi government has announced the launch of a new ‘high speed’ railway that will reduce travel time between Jeddah and Makkah to 5 minutes.

To successfully build and launch this train, the Saudi government is enlisting the help of the ‘Virgin Hyperloop’, a US-based startup that generates a near vacuum atmosphere inside a tube, allowing for high speeds and minimal energy travel.

Battery-powered pods inside this tube may travel at speeds of up to 1078 kilometres per hour while remaining entirely comfortable and unaffected by the high speeds.

Introducing a similar railway between Riyadh and Jeddah will decrease the 9+ hour journey to less than an hour, while the same train will shorten the route between Riyadh and Dubai to 51 minutes only, sounds too good to be true, right?

These breakthrough hyperloop trains will revolutionise travel by transporting thousands of people at aeroplane speeds while emitting no direct emissions.

By launching this initiative, the Saudi government will become the world’s first to use hyperloop technology.
