[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]Former Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the recent acts of vandalism that followed his incarceration on May 9 were part of a premeditated and orchestrated plan to discredit the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, with the ultimate goal of identifying it as a proscribed organisation.
Khan made these remarks on Saturday during a speech delivered from his home in Zaman Park, Lahore.
The episodes, according to Khan, were part of a bigger plot to weaken the PTI’s standing.\
“This was a well-planned plot to weaken and eliminate PTI.” The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) understands that they will not be able to defeat the PTI in elections. As a result, they are attempting to designate our party as a prohibited organisation. It is regrettable that a party that has been peaceful for over 27 years is being characterised as a terrorist organisation.”
Khan called the claims that he neglected to condemn the violent protests a “blatant lie,” emphasising that during his Supreme Court appearance, he immediately stated his categorical opposition to all forms of violence.
“I was shot; did I ever request that [party workers] engage in violence?” I stated the intelligence officer’s name, but did anything happen or were any government buildings set on fire? When I got out, I found out about the violent protests. I made it clear that I strongly condemn such behaviour. “I have never given my people permission to engage in anything other than peaceful protests,” he stated.
He claimed that PTI employees attempted to halt those who set fire to a sabre jet stationed at an intersection in Mianwali. “We used to look at it with pride. How did the aircraft catch fire when it was made of aluminium? “Those who had brought something with them set it ablaze,” he claimed.
According to the former premier, the police might have caught him without resorting to violence. “Was it necessary to resort to violence and brutality?” Was I acting like a terrorist? I used to be the Prime Minister of Canada. “They hit me on the head with a club,” he continued.
Following his detention, he said that PTI officials such as Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Asad Umar, Yasmin Rashid, and others were calling for a peaceful demonstration.
“What caused the fire at Radio Pakistan?” The protest was taking place elsewhere. “A person was seen instigating people outside the Corps Commander’s residence, and as soon as the gate opened, he vanished from the scene,” he claimed.
“I was arrested, and then the internet and the media were shut down.” Following that, our people were captured. “The entire senior leadership, including those advocating for peaceful protests, was apprehended,” he claimed.
Imran added that he called for a peaceful protest, urging his supporters to hold placards with the phrases “Save Nation, Save Constitution.” He did, however, voice his dismay that many people were imprisoned just for displaying these signs.
He stated that he had never witnessed such horrible treatment of women in Pakistan’s history. He highlighted that the PTI and its followers had a constitutionally protected right to peaceful protest.
“I clearly state that if any member of the PTI is found to be involved in burning a vehicle or engaging in any other unlawful activity, please inform us, and we will present them before the court ourselves,” he continued.
Imran stated that there is currently no law in the country and that the court is his only hope, adding that even judges are being urged not to grant relief to the PTI.
He said that the Constitution was violated by not holding elections on May 14. “The country is being run on the doctrine of necessity.”
He argued that pursuing negotiations with the PDM was a useless exercise because there was no intention of reaching a constructive solution for the country. “They are well aware that they will lose the elections.” Their goal is to prevent the PTI from running in elections. They want to get rid of the PTI and reclaim power,” he remarked.
“What advantage does the election postponement provide? Will the economy improve miraculously by October? You are free to use the minus-one [formula], but what will the results be? Please explain the benefits to me, and I will jump on board so that the country may thrive,” he said.
“When orders are disregarded, Supreme Court decisions are ignored, and despite high court orders, Imran Riaz Khan is not produced, while 7,500 workers remain detained without being presented in court,” he said. What kind of legislation is this? The law of the jungle rules here.”

He stated that 900,000 professionals have fled the country as a result of the current scenario, and that the people are losing hope. “Those currently in power, it is your responsibility to govern this country.” This, too, is your Pakistan,” he continued.
According to the former prime minister, PDM members are unaffected since they only benefit when the value of the dollar rises because their money is hidden abroad.
“They have billions of dollars stashed abroad, but those who want to stay here should know that the country is on its way to destruction.” There is only one solution, and people who are listening to me know what that method is: have fair and transparent elections. “From there, our fight to pull the country out of this quagmire will begin,”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
