The Pakistani rupee (PKR) continued its upward trend against the US Dollar (USD) on Wednesday. The local currency recorded its 241st consecutive day of gains.
The PKR closed at 277.27 against the US Dollar on September 16, 2026. It gained three paisas during the latest trading session.
The rupee has maintained its positive movement against the dollar since December 25, 2025. This has extended its consecutive daily gain streak to 241 sessions.
The latest movement also showed mixed performance against other major international currencies. The PKR strengthened against some currencies while losing ground against others.
The local currency gained 12 paisas against the British Pound (GBP). It closed at 373.5262 compared with 373.6509 a day earlier.
However, the PKR lost three paisas against the Australian Dollar (AUD). The currency closed at 197.6113 against the AUD on Wednesday.
The rupee also weakened against the Euro (EUR). It lost around 29 paisas, with the EUR closing at 320.1237.
Meanwhile, the PKR posted a stronger performance against the Canadian Dollar (CAD). It gained 43 paisas against the Canadian currency.
The Canadian Dollar closed at 198.9820 on Wednesday. This compared with 199.4191 in the previous session.
The PKR also made a small gain against the UAE Dirham (AED). It strengthened by one paisa during the session.
The AED closed at 75.4881, moving closer to the Rs. 75 level. The UAE currency had closed at 75.4975 a day earlier.
A day trader told ProPakistani that the AED could fall below Rs. 75. This could happen if economic uncertainty in the UAE continues.
The prediction reflects a market view rather than an official exchange-rate forecast. Actual currency movements can change with market conditions.
The Saudi Riyal (SAR) remained stable against the Pakistani rupee. It closed at 73.8190 on Wednesday.
The Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) also moved lower against the PKR. It closed at 67.8424 compared with 67.9371 previously.
The Chinese Yuan (CNY) recorded a small increase against the rupee. It reached 41.3443 from 41.3098 in the previous session.
Overall, the PKR remained firm against the US Dollar during Wednesday’s trading session. Its extended winning streak continues to attract attention in the currency market.
