Nexgen Auto Pvt. Ltd. has significantly increased the prices of both Jaecoo J5 variants in Pakistan following the government’s decision to raise the sales tax rate on hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) to 25%.
The latest price revision has added Rs. 1.1 million to the price of both the Jaecoo J5 Comfort and Jaecoo J5 Premium variants.
According to Nexgen Auto’s latest circular, the revised prices are applicable following the implementation of the higher sales tax rate, which took effect from July 1, 2026.
Jaecoo J5 Comfort Price Increased
The Jaecoo J5 Comfort has received a substantial price increase of Rs. 1,100,000.
The variant was previously available at Rs. 6,699,000, but its price has now increased to Rs. 7,799,000.
The increase represents a significant rise for buyers considering the entry-level J5 variant and reflects the impact of the revised taxation structure on hybrid vehicles.
Jaecoo J5 Premium Also Gets Rs. 1.1 Million Increase
The Jaecoo J5 Premium has also become Rs. 1.1 million more expensive.
Its previous price stood at Rs. 7,699,000, while the new price has been set at Rs. 8,799,000.
As a result, both J5 variants have received an identical price increase despite having different previous prices.
The latest revision means customers will now need to pay considerably more for the J5 compared with the prices previously announced by the company.
Jaecoo J7 Premium Price Remains Unchanged
While the J5 lineup has become significantly more expensive, Nexgen Auto has kept the price of the Jaecoo J7 Premium unchanged.
The J7 Premium continues to be priced at Rs. 10,499,000.
Nexgen’s circular indicated that the revised pricing specifically affects the applicable hybrid models following the government’s 25% sales tax rate on HEVs and PHEVs.
New Jaecoo J5 Prices
The latest prices are as follows:
| Variant | Previous Price | New Price | Increase |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jaecoo J5 Comfort | Rs. 6,699,000 | Rs. 7,799,000 | Rs. 1,100,000 |
| Jaecoo J5 Premium | Rs. 7,699,000 | Rs. 8,799,000 | Rs. 1,100,000 |
| Jaecoo J7 Premium | Rs. 10,499,000 | Rs. 10,499,000 | Unchanged |
The price changes are expected to affect the overall cost of purchasing hybrid vehicles in Pakistan, particularly for consumers shopping in the rapidly expanding hybrid crossover segment.
Higher Taxes Affect Hybrid Vehicle Prices
The Jaecoo J5 price increase follows the government’s move to apply a 25% sales tax rate to HEVs and PHEVs from July 1, 2026.
Automakers and distributors have subsequently begun revising prices to account for the higher tax burden.
The impact has not been limited to Jaecoo models, with other manufacturers also announcing significant price increases for hybrid vehicles.
Toyota and Honda Also Raise Hybrid Prices
Indus Motor Company recently increased the prices of two Toyota Corolla Cross HEV variants.
The company raised their prices by Rs. 1,364,000 and Rs. 1,314,000, respectively.
Similarly, Honda Atlas Cars Limited increased the price of its Honda HR-V e by Rs. 1,370,000.
These increases indicate that the higher sales tax is having a noticeable impact on hybrid vehicle pricing across Pakistan’s automobile market.
For consumers, the latest changes could make hybrid vehicles more expensive at a time when fuel efficiency and lower running costs continue to influence vehicle-buying decisions.
Buyers Face Higher Cost of Hybrid Vehicles
The latest Jaecoo J5 price revision places the model in a higher price bracket than before, potentially affecting purchasing decisions among customers considering hybrid crossovers.
The J5 Comfort now costs nearly Rs. 7.8 million, while the J5 Premium is priced close to Rs. 8.8 million.
With both variants receiving the same Rs. 1.1 million increase, buyers will need to account for the additional cost when comparing the J5 with competing hybrid models available in Pakistan.
The price changes also highlight the broader impact of tax policy on Pakistan’s automotive sector, particularly as manufacturers and consumers adjust to the revised taxation structure.
