Following orders from the Punjab Chief Minister, Punjab Police has started reviewing officers accused of corruption and misconduct.
The province-wide scrutiny focuses on Station House Officers (SHOs) serving in different districts. Authorities are collecting confidential reports and service records of these officers.
The process aims to examine the conduct, performance and reputation of police officers. Officials are gathering information before deciding on any disciplinary action.
The Punjab Chief Minister has directed authorities to take a closer look at officers facing allegations. Police authorities are now working with several departments during the review.
The Special Branch, Punjab Police and other relevant agencies have been asked to submit reports. These reports will provide additional information about officers under scrutiny.
Authorities are also conducting confidential surveys among residents in different areas. The surveys are designed to assess the performance and public conduct of local SHOs.
Residents’ feedback will help authorities evaluate how officers are viewed in their respective communities. Officials will consider this information along with service records and institutional reports.
DIG Operations Faisal Kamran said no final action would be taken without proper verification. He stressed that all available information would first be reviewed carefully.
The DIG said authorities would verify reports before taking action against any officer. This approach is intended to ensure decisions are based on confirmed information.
The Punjab Police is also following standard operating procedures issued by the Inspector General’s Office. These procedures govern the appointment of SHOs across the province.
According to Faisal Kamran, officers with established corruption cases will not continue as SHOs. The policy reflects the department’s stated position against corruption.
Reports from various institutions are expected to be submitted to the Lahore Capital City Police Officer. The reports are scheduled to reach the CCPO on Monday.
The submitted information will include details of criminal records and corruption cases. Authorities will use these records as part of the wider scrutiny process.
