The Suzuki Fronx has become significantly more expensive in Pakistan after Suzuki revised the prices of its crossover lineup by up to Rs700,000, pushing the vehicle’s price above the Rs7 million mark. The increase comes at a time when Pakistan’s hybrid vehicle market is facing uncertainty due to higher taxes and the delay in announcing the country’s new auto policy.
Although the Suzuki Fronx is classified as a mild hybrid rather than a full hybrid electric vehicle, it has still been affected by changing market conditions. The Suzuki Fronx GLX 6A/T Mono Tone, previously priced at Rs6,299,999, now costs around Rs7 million. Meanwhile, the GLX 6A/T Two Tone variant has increased from Rs6.34 million to Rs7,075,000.
Suzuki clarified that the earlier prices were offered as part of a limited-time promotional campaign. With that offer ending, the company has restored the regular retail prices for the Suzuki Fronx, making the crossover considerably costlier for new buyers.
The latest price adjustment follows the government’s decision to increase the General Sales Tax (GST) on hybrid electric vehicles from 8.5% to 25%, effective from July 1, after the expiry of incentives provided under the Auto Policy 2021–26. At the same time, the government has yet to announce the Auto Policy 2026–31, leaving both manufacturers and consumers waiting for greater clarity.
The higher GST has already resulted in major price increases across Pakistan’s hybrid vehicle segment. Several automakers have raised prices, while some have reportedly delayed vehicle deliveries as they wait for possible changes in government policy.
However, there is some relief in sight. Reports suggest that the federal government is considering reducing GST on hybrid vehicles from 25% to 18%. If approved by the federal cabinet, the move could lower prices of hybrid vehicles, including models like the Suzuki Fronx, improve consumer confidence, and support demand for fuel-efficient vehicles in Pakistan.
