A weak monsoon system that brought rainfall to Lahore and several parts of Punjab has moved out of the province, with hot and humid weather expected to return over the coming days. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said the recent spell of rain has ended, and warmer conditions are likely to dominate across the region.
According to the PMD, the departing weather system produced light to moderate rainfall in different districts before weakening and moving away. The rain provided temporary relief from the summer heat, but the cooler conditions are not expected to continue for long.
The Met Office has forecast dry and warm weather across most parts of Punjab during the next 24 hours. Temperatures are expected to rise gradually, while increasing humidity may make the weather feel even hotter, particularly during the afternoon.
In Lahore, weather conditions are expected to remain partly cloudy, with periods of sunshine alternating with cloud cover throughout the day. Localized cloud formation could also result in light rain at a few isolated locations, although widespread rainfall is not expected.
The Met Office has forecast a minimum temperature of 27°C for Lahore, while the maximum temperature may rise to 39°C. The combination of high temperatures and humidity is likely to create uncomfortable conditions for residents across the provincial capital.
Authorities have advised people to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during peak hours, and take necessary precautions against heat-related illnesses. Children, elderly people, and those working outdoors have been urged to remain especially careful.
Weather officials said hot and humid conditions are likely to persist across much of Punjab unless another weather system develops. Residents have been advised to follow official weather updates for the latest forecasts and any changes in conditions.
