Pakistan Test Team Departs for West Indies

Pakistan’s Test squad has left for the West Indies to prepare for an important two-match ICC World Test Championship (WTC) series scheduled later this month. The tour marks another key step in Pakistan’s campaign as the team looks to strengthen its position in the World Test Championship standings.

The national team departed from Islamabad International Airport and will travel to the Caribbean through Doha and London before arriving in Trinidad and Tobago. The journey will allow the squad time to settle into local conditions before the series begins.

Captain Babar Azam will lead Pakistan during the tour, with matches set to be played at two of the Caribbean’s most well-known cricket venues. The opening Test will be hosted at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, while the second and final match will take place at the historic Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain.

Before leaving Pakistan, the players completed a comprehensive training camp at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Over three days, the squad focused on improving batting, bowling, fielding, and overall fitness under the supervision of the coaching staff. The camp was designed to ensure the players are fully prepared for the challenges of Test cricket in Caribbean conditions.

As part of their preparations, the team also participated in a two-day scenario-based practice match. The exercise allowed the coaches to evaluate the players’ current form, experiment with different team combinations, and assess their readiness ahead of the series.

After reaching the West Indies, Pakistan will continue its preparations with a four-day warm-up match scheduled from July 18 to July 21. The practice fixture will provide valuable match experience, help players adapt to local pitches and weather conditions, and allow the coaching staff to finalize the playing XI before the opening Test.

The two-match Test series will run from July 25 to August 10. The first encounter will be played at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, followed by the second Test at Queen’s Park Oval.

The upcoming series carries significant importance for both Pakistan and the West Indies, as each side aims to earn valuable World Test Championship points. A strong performance could improve their standings and boost confidence for the remainder of the WTC cycle, making the Caribbean tour a crucial assignment for Pakistan’s Test team.
