Balochistan Creates New Divisions and Districts

The Balochistan government has officially approved a major administrative restructuring, increasing the province’s divisions from eight to 11 and districts from 36 to 41.

According to a notification issued by the provincial Revenue Department, the changes were approved by the Balochistan Cabinet to improve governance and administrative efficiency across the province.

Under the new structure, Balochistan’s 11 divisions are Quetta, Rakhshan, Makuran, Naseerabad, Zhob, Loralai, Koh-i-Suleman, Pishin, Lasbela, Sevi, and Khuzdar. The government has also officially changed the spellings of Makran to Makuran and Sibi to Sevi.

One of the most significant changes is the division of the former Quetta district into Quetta East and Quetta West. Quetta East will include the Sariab, Saddar, and City subdivisions, while Quetta West will consist of Kuchlak, Brewery, and Panjpai. In addition, Mastung district has been shifted from the former Kalat Division to Quetta Division, which will now comprise Quetta East, Quetta West, and Mastung.

The government has also abolished Kalat Division, replacing it with two new divisions: Khuzdar and Lasbela. Khuzdar Division includes Khuzdar, Kalat, Surab, and the newly established Wadh district, while Lasbela Division consists of Lasbela, Hub, and Awaran.

A new Pishin Division has also been created, comprising Pishin, Qila Abdullah, Chaman, and the newly formed Barshore district, which was carved out of the former Pishin district.

Meanwhile, Sibi Division has officially been renamed Sevi Division and will include Sevi, South Dera Bugti, and Kachhi districts.

The administrative overhaul raises Balochistan’s total to 11 divisions and 41 districts, marking one of the province’s most significant governance reforms in recent years.
