An Emirates SkyCargo aircraft made an emergency landing at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport after experiencing an engine malfunction while en route from Osaka, Japan, to Dubai.
According to the Pakistan Airports Authority, the technical issue developed mid-flight, prompting the pilot to immediately contact Karachi Air Traffic Control and request emergency landing clearance.
Air traffic controllers approved the request, allowing the cargo aircraft to land safely at Jinnah International Airport without any injuries or damage.
Following the landing, airport officials moved the aircraft to a designated parking bay, where technical teams began inspecting the engine to determine the cause of the malfunction. Authorities have not yet confirmed when the flight will resume its journey to Dubai.
The aircraft was operated by Emirates SkyCargo, the cargo division of Emirates, and the incident was handled without any reported complications.
The emergency landing comes just a week after a Pakistani private cargo aircraft crashed while flying from Sharjah to Karachi, highlighting the critical importance of swift pilot response, efficient air traffic coordination, and immediate technical inspections during in-flight emergencies.
