The Sindh government has announced plans to install large public screens across several districts and divisions so football fans can watch the remaining World Cup matches together.
Sindh Sports Minister Sardar Muhammad Bux Mahar said public screenings would be arranged at different sports grounds and complexes throughout the province. In Karachi, the World Cup matches will be shown at Sharafi Football Ground in Malir on July 15, 16, and 20.
Big screens will also be installed at selected locations in Malir, Shaheed Benazirabad, Larkana, Hyderabad, and Mirpurkhas. In Sukkur, supporters will be able to watch the matches at Municipal Stadium and Rohri Football Ground.
The minister added that public viewing facilities would also be arranged at sports complexes in Ghotki and Thatta. The initiative is intended to give football supporters across Sindh an opportunity to enjoy the tournament in a lively community atmosphere.
The 2026 World Cup has also produced a historic semi-final lineup, with the top four teams in FIFA’s global rankings reaching the final four for the first time. Spain, Argentina, France, and England entered the tournament ranked first, second, third, and fourth, respectively.
Their progress was supported by a change introduced by FIFA for the expanded tournament. The four highest-ranked teams were placed in separate sections of the knockout draw, preventing them from facing each other before the semi-finals, provided they won their groups.
All four teams finished first in their respective groups, allowing the planned separation to remain in place. As a result, Spain and Argentina could not meet before the World Cup final, while England and France were placed on opposite sides of the knockout bracket.
FIFA said the arrangement was designed to improve competitive balance by creating two separate routes to the semi-finals.
The semi-final schedule now features France against Spain on Tuesday, followed by England against Argentina on Wednesday. Fans across Sindh will be able to watch these major World Cup matches on the newly installed public screens.
