The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has launched a new Responsible Citizen Award campaign to encourage people to report crimes, harassment, suspicious activities, and emergency situations. The initiative aims to increase public participation in improving safety and supporting law enforcement across the province.
According to PSCA officials, citizens who report public safety issues through official channels will be recognized and rewarded. The authority believes timely information from the public can help emergency services respond faster and prevent incidents from becoming more serious.
The campaign is designed to strengthen cooperation between citizens and law enforcement agencies. Officials said public support plays an important role in maintaining law and order and improving security in Punjab.
The first award under the initiative has already been presented to a resident of Lahore. The citizen was recognized after reporting an abandoned child through the Public Safety App.
After receiving the report, Safe City teams responded immediately. Authorities successfully rescued the child and safely reunited them with their family.
PSCA praised the citizen for acting responsibly and informing authorities without delay. Officials said the quick report helped ensure the child’s safety and demonstrated how public cooperation can make a positive difference.
The authority emphasized that every citizen can contribute to a safer society by remaining alert and reporting suspicious activities. Officials encouraged residents to use official reporting platforms whenever they witness crimes, harassment, emergencies, or other public safety concerns.
According to PSCA, the Responsible Citizen Award campaign is intended to promote civic responsibility across Punjab. The authority hopes public recognition will motivate more people to cooperate with law enforcement agencies.
Officials also highlighted the importance of using official communication channels when reporting incidents. Accurate and timely information allows emergency responders to act more efficiently and provide faster assistance.
The Public Safety App remains one of the key tools available to citizens for reporting incidents. Through the application, people can quickly notify authorities about emergencies and receive assistance when needed.
PSCA believes stronger community engagement will improve public confidence in safety services while supporting efforts to reduce crime and enhance emergency response capabilities.
The authority added that community participation is an important part of modern policing. Working together with citizens can help authorities respond more effectively to different types of public safety challenges.
