HEC Honors Seven Faculty Members with Best University Teacher Award 2025

The HEC has recognized seven university faculty members with the Best University Teacher Award (BUTA) 2025. The awards celebrate excellence in teaching and outstanding academic contributions across different fields of higher education in Pakistan.

The award ceremony took place at the HEC headquarters in Islamabad on Tuesday. The recipients were selected through a detailed evaluation process that reviewed their teaching performance, academic achievements, and contributions to student learning. Each award winner received a cash prize of Rs. 1 million along with an official certificate.

The honored faculty members represent universities from different parts of the country and a wide range of academic disciplines. Their work reflects the diversity and strength of Pakistan’s higher education sector.

The recipients include Dr. Nadia Nawaz from COMSATS University Islamabad, Wah Campus, who was recognized in the field of Engineering, Manufacturing, and Construction. Dr. Rashid Jalil from the University of Engineering and Technology Lahore received the award in Natural Sciences, Mathematics, and Statistics.

Dr. Ifran Bashir of the University of Management and Technology Lahore was honored in the Education category. Dr. Abrar Ashraf Ali from King Edward Medical University Lahore received recognition in Health and Welfare.

The list also includes Dr. Owais Mufti from the Institute of Management Sciences Peshawar for Business, Administration, and Law. Dr. Ahsan Ul Haq of the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics was recognized in Social Sciences, Journalism, and Information. Dr. Rao Zahid from the University of Agriculture Faisalabad received the award in Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries, and Veterinary Sciences.

HEC Chairman Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar attended the ceremony as the chief guest. He congratulated all the award recipients and praised their dedication to teaching and academic excellence. He said the awards recognize educators who have made a meaningful impact on student learning and classroom development.

The chairman also highlighted the important role of teachers in preparing students for future challenges. He said quality education depends on committed faculty members who continue to improve learning standards and inspire the next generation.

The event was attended by senior HEC officials, university vice chancellors, and members of the award selection committees. Their presence reflected the importance of recognizing excellence in higher education.
