King Charles has become the first reigning British monarch to publicly disclose details of his personal tax payments, marking a historic step toward greater transparency over royal finances.
Palace officials said the King has paid more than $41 million in personal taxes since ascending the throne in 2022. The announcement follows growing public interest in the Royal Family’s finances and property arrangements.
The Royal Household also confirmed that King Charles and Queen Camilla will not move into Buckingham Palace after its taxpayer-funded renovation. Instead, they will continue living at Clarence House as their official residence.
Buckingham Palace will remain the monarchy’s main administrative headquarters, hosting state events, official meetings, ceremonies, receptions, and other royal functions.
Meanwhile, Prince William has published new financial details about the Duchy of Cornwall, outlining plans to invest in housing, environmental projects, and community development. He also announced that rental income from Dartmoor Prison will be used to support local communities.
