PKR Extends Winning Streak Against Dollar for 185th Day

The Pakistani rupee (PKR) continued its positive run against the US dollar on Tuesday, closing stronger for the 185th consecutive trading session.

According to market data, the rupee settled at Rs278.21 against the US dollar after gaining one paisa during the day. The latest appreciation extends the currency’s record recovery streak against the greenback.

Analysts note that if the current trend continues, the rupee could strengthen beyond the Rs277 per dollar level by the end of June.

Against regional currencies, the rupee remained largely stable. It gained one paisa against the Saudi Riyal (SAR) and showed little change against the UAE Dirham (AED).

The local currency also posted gains against several major international currencies. It appreciated by 87 paisas against the Euro (EUR), closing at Rs317.56 compared to Rs318.44 in the previous session.

Similarly, the rupee strengthened by Rs1.31 against the Australian Dollar (AUD), which settled at Rs193.34.

However, the rupee weakened against the British Pound (GBP), losing Rs1.13 to close at Rs368.17. It also slipped marginally against the Canadian Dollar (CAD).

Currency market observers continue to monitor global economic developments, commodity prices, and foreign exchange inflows, which remain key factors influencing the rupee’s performance.

The sustained appreciation of the rupee comes amid broader efforts to maintain exchange rate stability and strengthen confidence in Pakistan’s financial markets.
