Islamabad Announces Revised Closing Hours for Markets and Restaurants (1)

The Islamabad district administration has announced revised closing hours for markets, malls, restaurants, and commercial areas. The new rules are part of ongoing austerity measures in Islamabad.

According to an official notification issued by the Office of the District Magistrate, the revised timings came into effect on June 10, 2026. These timings will remain valid until further orders from authorities in Islamabad.

Under the new schedule, shops, markets, shopping malls, bazaars, and departmental stores will close at 9:00 pm. The decision applies to all general commercial businesses operating in Islamabad.

Standalone grocery and kiryana stores will be allowed to stay open until 10:00 pm. Marriage halls, marquees, and other event venues will also follow the same timing.

Restaurants, cafes, eateries, food outlets, and fruit and vegetable shops can remain open until 11:00 pm. However, takeaway and home delivery services are exempt from the restrictions in Islamabad.

The district administration has confirmed that essential services will continue without any changes. Hospitals, clinics, medical laboratories, pharmacies, and fuel stations are fully exempt.

Other exempt sectors include electric vehicle charging stations, gyms, sports facilities, IT companies, and call centers. These services will operate as normal across Islamabad.

Officials said the purpose of the new timings is to support energy conservation. The move is also part of broader austerity measures introduced in Islamabad.

Authorities have warned that strict action will be taken against violations. Businesses have been advised to follow the new closing hours carefully.

The revised schedule will remain in place until further notice. Any updates or changes will be announced through official channels.
