ISLAMABAD – Solar panel prices have witnessed a significant increase across Pakistan ahead of the federal budget, creating concern among consumers and businesses planning to switch to renewable energy solutions.
According to market reports, the cost of solar panels has risen noticeably in recent days, even before any official announcement regarding proposed taxation or policy changes in the upcoming budget. Traders and industry insiders believe uncertainty surrounding potential budget measures has contributed to the latest surge in prices.
Market sources revealed that the prices of different solar panel models have increased by approximately Rs. 7,000 to Rs. 9,000 per panel. The sharp rise has substantially increased the overall cost of installing solar systems for homes, commercial buildings, and industrial users.
The price of a 585-watt solar panel, which previously sold for around Rs. 18,000, has now climbed to nearly Rs. 27,000. Similarly, the cost of a 645-watt panel has increased from about Rs. 22,000 to Rs. 31,200. A 720-watt solar panel has also become more expensive, with its price rising from approximately Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 33,500.
Industry experts have warned that the upward trend may not stop with solar panels alone. They expect inverter prices to rise in the coming weeks, which could further increase the overall cost of solar energy systems. Any increase in inverter rates would affect both residential and commercial installations, making solar projects more expensive for consumers.
The latest increase in solar panel prices comes at a time when many households are turning to solar energy to reduce their electricity bills amid rising power costs. Consumers who were planning to install solar systems are now facing higher upfront expenses.
Market observers noted that traders in several cities, particularly Karachi, have already adjusted prices in anticipation of possible budget-related measures. Until the government announces its final budget decisions, uncertainty is expected to continue influencing the solar market.
The sudden rise in solar panel prices has added pressure on consumers looking for affordable alternatives to conventional electricity.
