A closely watched meeting is expected today at Adiala Jail, where former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan will meet a selected group of party members after a prolonged period of restricted access.
The meetings of the incarcerated leader with family members and senior party figures have remained limited in recent months, contributing to rising political tensions and criticism from within the party ranks.
According to official arrangements, Chaudhry Owais Younis Advocate, acting as the focal person, has submitted a list of approved visitors to jail authorities. The meeting is scheduled to take place at 2:00 PM inside Central Jail Adiala under strict security protocols.
The approved delegation includes Seemabia Tahir, Usman Jora, Assad Abbas, Malik Yasir Patwali, Roohul Amin, Malik Azeem, and Rohail Anjum, all of whom have been granted permission to enter the high-security facility.
For a prolonged period, access to Imran Khan has reportedly been restricted for several senior PTI leaders and family members, fueling internal concerns and political unrest within the party.
Earlier this week, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Imran Khan’s sister were also denied meetings, further escalating tensions. In response, the KP chief minister announced plans for a sit-in protest outside the National Assembly on June 10.
Imran Khan’s legal challenges have continued since his imprisonment in 2023, with multiple convictions in cases involving state gifts, alleged leaks of state secrets, and corruption charges, leading to several prison sentences over time.
