Rawalpindi has introduced a new digital enforcement system called “One App” to improve traffic monitoring and transparency. The launch marks the first time a digital evidence-based Traffic Challan system has been introduced in the city.
According to traffic police officials, the new application is designed to modernize traffic enforcement and reduce disputes related to violations. Authorities said the system will rely on video evidence to ensure transparency during the issuance of a Traffic Challan.
A spokesman for the traffic police stated that the initiative is a historic step for Rawalpindi. He explained that video recordings of traffic violations will now be mandatory before issuing challans to drivers.
Officials said the recorded footage will also remain available for verification and security purposes. This feature is expected to help both traffic authorities and citizens review violation details when needed.
The new digital system will also allow officers to verify important vehicle and driver information on the spot. Authorities confirmed that CNIC details and driving licences can now be checked instantly through the integrated application.
In addition, vehicle ownership records, fitness certificates, and route permits will also be verified digitally during inspections.
The authorities further shared that the digital system will not only focus on road violations. It will also support enforcement related to encroachments and environmental violations in the city.
Officials stated that FIR status and electronic challans will also be linked through the same integrated system. This will help improve coordination between departments and reduce paperwork.
Citizens will receive details regarding violations through QR codes generated by the application. The QR-based system will allow drivers to access information quickly and verify records digitally.
Chief Traffic Officer Rawalpindi Farhan Aslam said the “One App” initiative would improve discipline and strengthen security during travel across the city.
He added that the modern Traffic Challan system would help traffic police maintain better monitoring and encourage safer driving behavior among citizens.
The launch of the digital enforcement platform reflects a broader move toward technology-based governance and smart city solutions in Pakistan. Authorities believe the new system will increase transparency, reduce manual errors, and make enforcement more efficient.
Traffic police officials also expressed hope that the system would build public trust by ensuring that every challan is backed by proper evidence and digital verification.
