16-Year-Old Girl Shot Dead in Alleged Honour Killing in Wah Cantt

A tragic incident in Rawalpindi has sparked outrage after a 16-year-old girl was allegedly shot dead by her father in the Wah Cantt area over suspicions related to mobile phone contact with a man. The shocking case has once again highlighted concerns surrounding honour-based violence and the safety of women in Pakistan.

According to initial police reports, the father allegedly opened fire on his teenage daughter after suspecting that she had been talking to a man on her mobile phone. The girl died from gunshot injuries, while the accused reportedly fled following the incident. Police and forensic teams immediately reached the crime scene to collect evidence and begin investigations.

Chief Police Officer Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani took notice of the incident and directed the SP Potohar to submit a detailed report. He also ordered authorities to ensure the immediate arrest of all suspects involved in the case. Police officials stated that raids are ongoing to apprehend the accused and complete legal proceedings.

The victim’s body was shifted for post-mortem examination as investigators continued gathering forensic evidence. Authorities have assured that the case will be pursued on merit and that those responsible will be brought to justice. The incident has triggered grief and anger on social media, where many users demanded stricter action against honour-based violence.

The Wah Cantt tragedy comes only weeks after another horrifying alleged honour killing in Khairpur shocked the country. In that case, 22-year-old Khalida was reportedly shot dead in broad daylight in Tando Masti Khan after being accused of having a relationship with a man from her community.

Reports suggested that a local jirga allegedly ordered Khalida’s execution, leading to widespread condemnation from rights activists and social media users. Videos of the public killing circulated online, showing armed suspects opening fire while bystanders failed to intervene. Police later registered a murder case against four suspects and arrested two individuals as raids continued for the remaining accused.
