ECC Approves Key Economic and Development Projects in Pakistan

The ECC (Economic Coordination Committee) has approved several major policy and development decisions aimed at supporting economic growth in Pakistan. The meeting was chaired by Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb.

During the session, the ECC focused on housing, energy, industry, and public welfare projects. Officials said the decisions are part of broader efforts to improve economic stability and development.

One key approval by the ECC was the expansion of the Prime Minister’s Apna Ghar Programme. The updated housing finance scheme will now include overseas Pakistanis. It will also involve participation from the private sector to improve access to housing finance.

In the energy sector, the ECC approved gas supply for the revival of National Steel Complex Limited. However, the supply will depend on tariff conditions and availability. The decision aims to restart industrial operations at the facility.

The committee also approved the second phase of the Pakistan Accelerated Vehicle Electrification Programme. This initiative is part of the EV Policy 2025–30. It focuses on promoting electric vehicles and improving accessibility across Pakistan.

A major decision by the ECC was the approval of uniform system charges for all power distribution companies. This includes K-Electric. The move is aimed at creating a standard pricing structure nationwide.

The ECC also approved a technical supplementary grant of Rs2.5 billion for the Directorate General Immigration and Passports. The funds will be used for salaries, equipment procurement, and outstanding payments.

In addition, Rs350 million was approved for the Danish School in Islamabad. The funding will support operational expenses and educational activities.

The committee also sanctioned Rs100 million for the construction of the Faiz Ahmed Faiz Complex in Narowal. Officials said the project will promote cultural and educational development.

Furthermore, the ECC approved Rs596 million for Independence Day and Marka-e-Haq celebrations in 2025. These funds will be used for official events and national programs.

Officials said the ECC decisions reflect a balanced approach to development. The focus remains on housing, energy reform, industrial revival, and public services.
