Elon Musk, who has seen his $44 billion investment in the site dwindle, previously pledged to end what he called a “lords and peasants system.”
Instead, he offered to sell the blue badge for $8 per month, a move he said last year would “democratise journalism and empower the voice of the people.”

Earlier deadlines for the removal of the ticks, which were primarily used by celebrities, journalists, and politicians, have passed with little notice.
But on Thursday high-profile accounts and others, appeared to have had the checkmarks removed.
Politicians and official bodies also appeared to have been hit with Prime Minister’s Office handle also being one of the casualties.
While Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Khan lost his blue check his party’s official Twitter handle retained the check mark by paying $8.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
