Goods Transporters Announce 10 Percent Increase in Freight Charges Across Pakistan

Goods Transporters across Pakistan have announced a 10 percent increase in freight charges. The decision comes after the recent hike in petroleum prices by the government.

Transporters said rising fuel costs have made operations more expensive. They stated that diesel and petrol price increases have directly affected their business.

The announcement was made by Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance President Malik Shehzad Awan. He said the decision was taken after repeated fuel price hikes.

According to him, Goods Transporters are now facing severe financial pressure. He warned that many operators may struggle to continue business under current conditions.

In a video statement, Awan strongly opposed the increase in fuel prices. He said such decisions are pushing the transport sector into crisis.

He added that the government’s policies are making operations difficult for transporters. He stressed that the sector is already under strain.

The Goods Transporters leader also demanded relief measures from the government. He suggested abolishing toll taxes to reduce financial burden.

He further called for the removal of fines imposed by motorway police and traffic authorities. He said these penalties are adding to operational costs.

Awan also demanded relief in withholding tax for transport businesses. He said these steps are necessary to stabilize the sector.

He noted that existing subsidies are not enough to offset rising fuel prices. According to him, costs continue to rise faster than government support.

Despite challenges, Goods Transporters said they will continue operations. He said transporters are working to ensure the uninterrupted movement of goods across the country.

However, he warned that continued fuel price hikes could force more operators out of the market. He urged the government to review its policy decisions urgently.

The announcement is expected to impact transportation costs nationwide. It may also affect prices of essential goods in the coming days.
