The Islamabad Police have announced strict traffic and security measures in the federal capital following high-level diplomatic talks between Iran and the United States. The restrictions are part of enhanced security arrangements in sensitive areas of the city.
According to the Islamabad Police spokesperson, the Red Zone and Extended Red Zone will remain completely closed for all types of movement. These areas include key government buildings and diplomatic locations. Authorities said the step is necessary to ensure safety during the ongoing talks.
Several major roads in Islamabad will be closed for traffic. The route from Kashmir Chowk to Club Road towards Zero Point on Srinagar Highway will remain shut. In addition, Srinagar Highway from Zero Point to Serena Chowk will also be closed.
The Islamabad Police further stated that Shakarparian Road and the route from Chand Tara Chowk to Seventh Avenue will not be accessible. Jinnah Avenue, Khayaban Chowk to Blue Area, and Faisal Chowk to Trail 3 on Margalla Road will also remain closed during this period.
Authorities have also ordered the closure of all government and private offices within the Extended Red Zone. Markets in these areas will remain shut as part of the security plan. Officials said these measures are temporary but necessary due to the importance of the talks.
Despite these restrictions, alternative routes have been provided for commuters. Citizens traveling between Bhara Kahu, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi can use Faizabad and Ninth Avenue. The route from Kashmir Chowk to Club Road via these roads will remain open to reduce inconvenience.
The Islamabad Police have urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies. They have advised people to plan their travel in advance and avoid restricted areas. Officials also recommended using updated traffic information before leaving home.
