Karachi Enforces Section 144 Around Matriculation Exam Centers

The Karachi Commissioner has imposed Section 144 around all matriculation examination centers to ensure transparency and prevent cheating. The order will remain in effect from April 7 to May 2, 2026.

Under Section 144, gatherings within 200 yards of exam centers are strictly prohibited. Only students and authorized staff are allowed inside. Unrelated persons cannot enter exam premises. The authorities aim to maintain a secure and fair environment for the exams.

The use of mobile phones and other electronic devices is completely banned inside all examination centers. Photocopy machines and weapons are also prohibited. Police have been instructed to take legal action against anyone violating Section 144.

More than 385,000 students are expected to appear in exams across 530 centers in Karachi. Officials said that strict security arrangements are essential to prevent malpractice and ensure the credibility of matriculation exams.

Police and local administration will maintain a visible presence around all exam centers. Checkpoints, patrolling, and CCTV monitoring have been planned to ensure compliance with the law. Authorities emphasized that these measures are temporary but necessary for fair conduct.

Parents and guardians are advised to cooperate with security rules and avoid gathering near the exam centers. Students are reminded to carry only necessary documents and stationery.

The Karachi administration said Section 144 has been imposed to create a disciplined and safe environment. Officials highlighted that these measures will help conduct the matriculation exams smoothly and fairly.
