FIFA has announced that the fourth and final ticket sales phase for the 2026 World Cup will begin on April 1. The organization has not confirmed how many tickets will be available during this last-minute sales window.
The final phase will remain open throughout the tournament, which runs from June 11 to July 19. Tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis and may sometimes include matches happening on the same day.
FIFA reported that over 1 million tickets were sold in previous sales phases, out of more than 500 million requests received globally. Officials estimate that approximately 7 million tickets will be sold in total for all 16 stadiums across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The ticket prices have drawn criticism, particularly from European fans. The Football Supporters of Europe (FSE) filed a lawsuit with the European Commission, claiming FIFA set “excessive prices” and imposed unfair purchasing rules.
FIFA defended the pricing, stating that high demand for the 2026 World Cup tickets justifies the costs. FIFA President Gianni Infantino described the demand as “insane.” To address concerns, FIFA introduced a $60 ticket category for official supporters’ clubs, which sold out almost immediately.
The organization will also reopen its official ticket resale and exchange platform on April 2. While the resale system has faced criticism for high prices, FIFA clarified that it does not control the resale market. Individual sellers determine the displayed price of tickets.
Officials stressed that the final ticket sales phase provides another opportunity for fans who missed earlier chances. Fans are advised to act quickly, as tickets will be released in a rolling format and are expected to sell out fast.
