The Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court, Aalia Neelum, has raised concerns over disruptions caused by Pakistan Super League 2026 matches.
The issue came up during a bail hearing in a fraud case. The accused, Ali Ameer, was not presented in court. This led to strong remarks from the chief justice.
She questioned law enforcement officials about the absence of the suspect. She asked why court orders were not being followed. The court noted that Pakistan Super League 2026 security arrangements were affecting routine duties.
The chief justice expressed concern over road closures during PSL 11. She said these measures were disrupting public services. She stressed that court proceedings must not suffer due to such events.
The court then summoned the Punjab Chief Secretary and Home Secretary. Both officials were asked to appear immediately. They were directed to explain the situation and delays.
During the hearing, the complainant’s lawyer, Ejaz Bhatti, shared details of the case. He said a case was registered in Liaquatabad. He accused Ali Ameer of illegally taking over property worth Rs. 40 million.
The petitioner’s lawyer highlighted delays in the trial. He said the court had earlier ordered daily hearings. However, the accused was not produced due to PSL 11 security duties.
He argued that these delays were unfair to the accused. He requested the court to grant bail on this basis.
The court observed that legal processes must continue without interruption. It noted that events like PSL 11 should not affect the justice system. The chief justice emphasized that authorities must ensure balance.
The hearing highlighted growing concerns about managing large events. It also raised questions about coordination between departments.
