DUBAI – Pakistan opening batter Sahibzada Farhan has been shortlisted for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for February 2026 following his outstanding performances on the international stage.
Farhan faces competition for the award from Will Jacks of England and United States fast bowler Shadley van Schalkwyk, who have also delivered notable performances during the same period.
The Pakistani opener delivered a remarkable batting display during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2026. He finished as the tournament’s highest run-scorer and played a crucial role in Pakistan’s campaign. Farhan enjoyed a prolific run throughout the competition, consistently scoring runs at a strong pace and helping his team remain competitive in key matches.
The right-handed batter also achieved a major milestone during the tournament by breaking the record for the most runs scored in a single edition of the Men’s T20 World Cup. He surpassed the previous record set by Virat Kohli, who had scored 319 runs during the 2014 edition of the tournament. Farhan finished the event with an impressive total of 383 runs. His performances came at a strike rate of 160.25 and an average of 76.60, highlighting his dominance with the bat.
Another significant achievement for Farhan was scoring two centuries in the same tournament, which marked the first time a player has achieved this feat in a single Men’s T20 World Cup edition. His centuries came against Namibia and Sri Lanka, further strengthening his record-breaking campaign.
Farhan’s exceptional performances helped Pakistan secure a place in the Super 8 stage of the tournament, although the team narrowly missed qualification for the semi-finals.
Meanwhile, the nominees for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month include Sri Lanka batter Harshitha Samarawickrama, Pakistan captain Fatima Sana, and India pace bowler Arundhati Reddy. These players have also been recognized for their strong performances during the month.
