The Sindh Government will distribute free pink electric scooters to selected women on March 8, coinciding with International Women’s Day. The initiative aims to promote women’s safety and independence while encouraging eco-friendly transport.
Senior Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, said the program will improve women’s access to safe and reliable transportation across the province. The minister highlighted that the initiative reflects the Sindh Government’s commitment to empowering women in daily life.
Women chosen for the program will receive electric scooters along with training in road safety and riding skills. This ensures that beneficiaries can use the scooters safely and confidently for commuting.
The Sindh Government emphasized that the initiative is part of broader efforts to support women’s mobility while promoting sustainable transportation solutions. By providing modern electric scooters, the government aims to reduce dependence on traditional fuel-based transport and encourage environmentally friendly alternatives.
Minister Memon added that similar programs may be launched in the future to expand safe transportation options for women in other parts of the province. The training component of the program will help women ride responsibly and follow traffic rules, enhancing overall road safety.
The March 8 distribution ceremony will include government officials and selected beneficiaries. The Sindh Government hopes the initiative will inspire other provinces to adopt similar measures, combining women empowerment with eco-conscious commuting solutions.
