The deadline for installing M-Tags on motorcycles in Islamabad is nearing, with enforcement set to begin in two days. The Excise and Taxation Department has extended the deadline until March 5 to give citizens more time to complete the registration process.
Director General Excise Irfan Memon urged residents to install M-Tags before the new deadline, stating that the extension aims to improve compliance and public convenience. Authorities confirmed that tagging is mandatory for both motorcycles and vehicles under the digital registration and monitoring initiative.
In light of Ramadan, M-Tag installation centers have revised their operating hours to manage increased demand. Some major toll locations, including Sector 26 and Phulgran Toll Plaza, will operate 24 hours, while others will run on 12-hour and 8-hour shifts.
Facilities at F-9 Park and the G-14 police checkpoint will remain open from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Additional centers at Faizabad Interchange, Gulberg Greens, and Milpur will operate from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with other locations also open until evening.
Official data shows that 8,928 motorcycles have been tagged, including 2,069 installations in the past 24 hours. A total of 238,080 tags have been issued for vehicles so far. Authorities have appealed to citizens to complete the installation before the March 5 deadline.
