The Punjab government has opened applications for the Chief Minister’s Electric Bike Scheme, giving students across the province an opportunity to apply for subsidized electric bikes.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced the opening of applications on September 5, with eligible students able to register through the official electric bike scheme portal.
The initiative is aimed at improving transportation options for students and making daily travel to educational institutions more affordable.
100,000 Electric Bikes to Be Provided
Under the scheme, the Punjab government plans to provide 100,000 electric bikes to eligible students enrolled in educational institutions across the province.
Students studying in government and private schools, colleges and universities can apply for the scheme.
According to the provided details, the program covers students from more than 33,000 public and private educational institutions across Punjab.
The electric bikes will be offered in different colors, while pink bikes will be designated for female students.
The initiative is expected to provide students with a more accessible mode of transportation for commuting between their homes and educational institutions.
Students to Pay PKR 109,000
The listed total cost of each electric bike is PKR 199,000. However, the amount payable by the student under the scheme is PKR 109,000.
Students will be able to pay their share through a 36-month installment plan.
The monthly installment has been set at approximately PKR 3,028, allowing students to spread the cost over three years rather than paying the full amount upfront.
The Punjab government will cover several additional costs associated with the bikes, including insurance, mark-up and registration charges.
This arrangement is intended to reduce the financial burden on participating students and make the subsidized electric bikes more accessible.
Who Can Apply?
The scheme is open to eligible students studying at government and private educational institutions across Punjab.
The program covers a broad network of schools, colleges and universities, giving students from different educational backgrounds an opportunity to apply.
However, students should review the official eligibility requirements and application conditions before submitting their forms.
The scheme is particularly focused on supporting students who need reliable transportation for their regular educational journeys.
Applications Open From September 5
Applications for the Chief Minister’s Electric Bike Scheme officially opened on September 5, 2026.
Eligible students can submit their applications through the official Punjab government electric bike scheme portal.
Applicants are expected to provide the required information and complete the registration process through the designated online platform.
Students should carefully enter their details and review their applications before submitting them to avoid problems during the verification process.
Official Application Portal
Students interested in applying can access the official electric bike scheme portal at bikes.punjab.gov.pk.
The online registration system has been introduced to allow eligible students to apply without having to visit government offices for the initial application process.
Applicants should rely on the official portal for registration instructions, eligibility information and any updates regarding the scheme.
Focus on Student Transportation
The electric bike initiative is designed to address transportation challenges faced by students across Punjab.
For students who travel considerable distances to attend schools, colleges or universities, access to an affordable personal mode of transportation can help make daily commuting easier.
The installment-based payment structure, along with government coverage of insurance, mark-up and registration costs, is intended to make ownership more manageable for eligible students.
Maryam Nawaz said the applications were being opened as promised, providing students across Punjab with an opportunity to participate in the scheme.
With applications now underway, eligible students can review the requirements and submit their applications through the designated portal.
