Federal Minister for Power Awais Leghari has directed authorities to guarantee an uninterrupted electricity supply during Sehr and Iftar throughout the month of Ramadan.
The Power Division has circulated Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to all power distribution companies, including K-Electric, instructing them to ensure continuous power during peak Ramadan hours when demand typically rises.
Leghari has also instructed all Distribution Companies (DISCOs) to promptly respond to and resolve consumer complaints. Chief Executive Officers have been told to set up dedicated control rooms to enhance monitoring, coordination, and rapid response during the holy month.
The guidelines further stress strict oversight of high-loss areas as part of the ongoing anti-electricity theft campaign. Although load management may continue in such areas, authorities have clearly stated that no load shedding will take place during Sehr and Iftar times to facilitate worship and meal preparations.
According to the Power Division, any necessary load adjustments in high-loss regions will only be implemented outside Sehr and Iftar hours. DISCOs have also been warned against unscheduled or unannounced outages to minimize inconvenience for consumers.
The move is aimed not only at ensuring smooth power supply during Ramadan but also at controlling financial losses and preventing a rise in outstanding dues within the power sector.
