When Will the Ramadan Moon Be Sighted in Pakistan PMD Details Timing

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has announced that the Ramadan Moon for 1447 AH is expected to be born on February 17 at 5:01 pm PST. There is a reasonable chance of sighting the moon on the evening of February 18, which corresponds to 29th Shaban 1447 AH.

In an advisory sent to the Research and Reference Wing of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the PMD said the moon will reach conjunction at 5:01 pm on February 17. Astronomical calculations indicate that observers across the country may be able to see the Ramadan Moon on February 18.

The department’s Climate Data Processing Centre examined historical climate patterns for February. Most parts of Pakistan are expected to experience partly cloudy to clear skies, which could support moon sighting efforts. Citizens are encouraged to follow local sighting practices.

Region-wise moonset timings for February 18 are as follows:

  • Sindh: 7:24 pm
  • Punjab: 7:08 pm
  • Balochistan: 7:47 pm
  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 7:13 pm
  • Azad Jammu and Kashmir: 6:58 pm
  • Gilgit Baltistan: 6:53 pm

The PMD also noted that areas not included in the moon coordinate schedule may observe the Ramadan Moon according to local moonset timings. Observers are advised to check weather conditions and follow official guidelines for accurate sightings.

This announcement allows religious authorities and the public to prepare for the start of Ramadan 1447 AH. Correct moon sighting is essential for scheduling daily prayers, fasting, and other religious observances.
