Animal rescue in Pakistan has taken a major leap forward with the launch of the country’s first dedicated mobile app, Woofy. The app became publicly available following its official launch event on Sunday, offering a faster, more organized way to report and respond to cases of injured, abandoned, or abused animals.
Woofy allows users to report animal emergencies within minutes. After opening the app, users tap the green “Report Now” button, select a category—Injured, Abused, or Abandoned—and provide details such as a photo, location, and contact number. Additional notes can also be added to give rescuers more context about the animal’s condition.
The app features separate profiles and dashboards for reporters and rescuers. Reporters can track the status of their cases, while rescuers manage updates and organize rescues in real-time. This streamlined system helps ensure animals receive timely assistance while improving communication between those reporting cases and those responding to them.
Woofy has partnered with veterinarians and clinics to help rescuers quickly locate nearby facilities, including discounted services. The app also plans to introduce dedicated transportation for animal rescues, providing vehicles to take animals to clinics safely and efficiently.
Founded by animal welfare activists Yair Salman and Talha Chaudry, Woofy has been in development for a year. It is available for both iOS and Android, downloadable via the App Store and Google Play Store. Currently, the app operates in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, with plans to expand to other cities across Pakistan in the near future.
This app marks a significant step toward improving animal welfare in Pakistan, empowering citizens to act quickly and responsibly to protect animals in need.
