A Lahore court on Monday formally framed charges against popular YouTuber Ducky Bhai, whose real name is Saadur Rehman, in a case linked to the alleged promotion of a gambling application. Judicial Magistrate Naeem Watto indicted Ducky Bhai and several others who appeared before the court during the hearing.
Ducky Bhai denied the accusations and rejected the claims made against him. The court has now summoned witnesses to record their statements, with the next hearing scheduled for February 23.
The case traces back to August 17, when Ducky Bhai was stopped at Lahore Airport while attempting to travel abroad. Authorities detained him over allegations of involvement in money laundering through online gambling platforms. Later, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) registered a formal case against the social media star.
The Lahore High Court subsequently granted Ducky Bhai bail worth Rs. 10 lakh, leading to his release on November 26.
After regaining his freedom, Ducky Bhai broke nearly 100 days of silence and issued a public apology through a video shared on his YouTube channel. In the message, he clarified that the video was not meant to justify the FIR filed against him. Instead, he expressed regret if any of his content had negatively influenced viewers or unintentionally promoted harmful activities.
He emphasized that his goal has always been to entertain audiences and introduce fresh ideas. He added that if any of his work caused damage, knowingly or unknowingly, he sincerely apologizes to the nation.
Ducky Bhai also stated that he would fully cooperate with the legal process and respect whatever decision the court delivers. Reflecting on recent months, he shared how the situation affected him and his family, recalling the events leading up to his detention and the challenges they faced afterward.
