Dubai witnessed a major fashion moment on Friday as Shah Rukh Khan received the Global Style Icon Award at Dubai Mall. The award marked a milestone for the actor and Dubai’s growing fashion scene.
The ceremony was held at the Armani Hotel Dubai, concluding the two-day Dubai Mall Festival of Fashion. The festival transformed the mall into a showcase of fashion, culture, and global influence.
As the first edition of the Dubai Mall Global Fashion Awards, the event highlighted Dubai’s rise in the international fashion world. Shah Rukh Khan was the headline honouree, receiving one of fashion’s most prestigious awards. Despite the recognition, he remained humble, saying, “I don’t know much about fashion. I usually wear blue jeans and a white shirt.” His words drew warm applause from the audience.
The award was presented by Mohamed Alabbar, founder of Emaar Properties, who called Khan a major inspiration behind the show. The presentation ended with a heartfelt embrace. Designer Manish Malhotra, who styled Shah Rukh Khan for the evening in a black suit, also celebrated by winning the Couture Designer of the Year award. Khan and Malhotra share a long professional history, with the actor wearing the designer’s creations in several films.
