Shab-e-Barat Holiday All Schools to Remain Closed

The Sindh government has announced that all public and private educational institutions across the province will remain closed on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, in observance of Shab-e-Barat.

The School Education and Literacy Department issued an official notification on January 30, 2026. The closure applies to all schools operating under the administrative control of the department. This includes both public and private institutions.

Authorities have been instructed to ensure proper implementation of the closure. The department also directed relevant officials to circulate the notification among all schools across Sindh. The decision aims to allow students, teachers, and staff to observe Shab-e-Barat with their families and communities.

Shab-e-Barat, observed on the 15th of Shaban, holds deep religious significance for Muslims. On this night, worshippers offer prayers, recite the Quran, and perform other religious activities. Many families also remember departed loved ones and seek forgiveness for past mistakes. Special gatherings and night-long prayers are commonly held in mosques and homes across the province.

The provincial government’s announcement ensures that educational institutions do not disrupt the observance of this important occasion. Schools are expected to resume normal operations the following day, on Thursday, February 5, 2026.

Parents and guardians are advised to make appropriate arrangements for the one-day closure. Officials emphasized that all schools must strictly follow the notification to ensure smooth compliance.
