Babar Azam reached a memorable milestone by playing his 100th home international match at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, during Pakistan’s opening fixture of the three-match T20I series against Australia. The landmark occasion carried deep personal significance for the former Pakistan captain, who described the experience of achieving it on home soil as both emotional and a great honor.
Speaking about the achievement, Babar Azam expressed heartfelt appreciation for the consistent support he receives from cricket fans across Pakistan. He emphasized that the encouragement he enjoys is not limited to Lahore, but is felt in every city and at every stadium where he represents the national team. According to him, the passion and backing of the supporters serve as a powerful motivation, pushing him to deliver his best performances on the field.
Reflecting on his journey, Babar Azam revisited some of his most memorable moments while playing in Pakistan. He noted that his Test innings in cities such as Karachi and Lahore hold a particularly special place in his heart. Each venue, he explained, carries its own unique memories and emotions, making every innings meaningful in its own way.
The star batter also shared a nostalgic memory from his early years, recalling his time as a ball picker at Gaddafi Stadium during a Pakistan vs South Africa match in 2006 or 2007. He described how standing on the same ground years later, representing his country and completing 100 international matches at home, felt like a dream coming true.
Babar Azam further acknowledged the love and encouragement he receives from fans both inside the stadiums and on social media platforms. He said that the true strength of Pakistani cricket lies in its supporters, and his ultimate aim is to bring joy and pride to them through his performances.
Pakistan head coach Mike Hesson also congratulated Babar Azam, stating that playing before home crowds is always special, and the milestone made the occasion even more memorable.
